Make a Difference

Here at The Learning Center, students are exposed to the opportunity to develop skills in reading, writing, math, and related subjects to prepare for both GED/HiSET exams. Take a moment to read our success stories, to see how YOU can make a difference by joining our welcoming team.

Meet Lonnie!

Lonnie’s a current graduate student, and a new tutor to the TLC team. In her short time with us, she’s made such an impact on our adult learners. Lonnie continuously works around our ABE classroom, always willing to lend a hand to all of our adult learners. Thank you, Lonnie, for all of your help!

Meet Kevin!

Kevin is one of our more experienced tutors here at TLC. His commitment to his role as a volunteer is shown through those that he tutors. Kevin works hard in his tutoring efforts and is always confident in seeing our adult learners succeed. Thank you, Kevin, for all of your support!

Helping our adult learners to improve their literacy skills is an important task that requires training. We highly encourage our tutors to partake in an offsite 12-hour tutor training through our partnership with Literacy Works, OR an online tutor training through the Illinois State
Library (ISL).
