At The Learning Center, located at 2153 S. Millard Avenue, we offer Adult Basic Education (ABE), High School Equivalency (HSE), and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. You have the option to attend these classes either in person at The Learning Center or at Malcolm X College. The Learning Center functions as an off-campus site of Malcolm X College. To enroll, prospective students are required to visit The Learning Center during open registration hours.

Class Schedule 
ABE & HSE: Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

ESL: Monday & Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Cost
In our commitment to supporting adults who want to improve their education, all classes at The Learning Center are FREE.

Registration
All potential students must:
1. Apply online and complete the City Colleges of Chicago admissions application.
2. Take the TABE Placement Test in person at The Learning Center or online via Zoom.
3. Submit proof of residency.

 

Requirements
*All students must show a current ID to verify residency.
*If you are 16 or 17 years old, you need to provide an official Release Form from the last high school you attended.
